Showing the new guy around

"So. What've you seen besides the boys' dorms, so far?" Uta asked Neal once they got outside, relishing in the dark - his sight was much better in the night, partly due to his termographic vision - he could see the heat signatures of everything and everyone around him.

"Not many places." Neal replied, his eyes quickly addapting to the dark. "Kakashi only took me to the caffeteria to grab bite to eat, and then to the dorms."

"Okay... Well. The classrooms are over here." he said, and began walking. "The observation room's in there as well. Pray you never end up there. I had to be there on and off for the first year or two. It's, uhm. Usually carnivores that end up in there, if you can't control yourself. And I, well, with me it was a reflex to attack anything that moved close to me... So that's why I had to be in there so much."

Neal followed and made note of what he said and looking at the buildings he mentioned. "Well I can imagine that it must have been very difficult for you to get rid of that reflex.... Through I do also understand why a room like that must be needed here."

He nodded. "Having known nothing else than killing and eating, well.. It's hard to suddenly learn 'diplomacy'..."

"Yeah, as I said, I can only imagine how hard it must have been, through it does seem like you've learned it."

"Well, I'm not trying to eat you, am I?" he grinned.

"Well who knows." He luaghed. "You could be trying to lure me into a false sense of security."

"Snakes don't really do that. We just strike and eat..." he grinned, and kept on walking, until they reached the biggest building. "Well, in here's where all the normal classrooms are. The fighting grounds are a bit away from here."

Neal looked at the large building. "Normal classrooms? So there are more than one kind of them?" He then looked at Uta. "And you said fighting grounds?"

"There's a couple others, for one-on-one lessons. And yeah, fighting grounds. I... Well, I haven't decided yet at all, but our principal firmly believes in Gaia so she put fighting on the schedule so that we all know how to, if the time ever comes for that prophetised battle."

"Nor have I, through she is right in one thing, it is always a good idea to know how to fight."

Uta nodded. "It is. And we get taught both how to fight in this form, but also to use our natural forms more efficiently than we did before. My striking range increased, for example. I could only strike three meters before. Now, it's six meters."

" 'Only three meters' That is already a big striking distance. " He said, looking at Uta. "And how could you gain a bigger striking distance? THat doesn't seem like it normally would be possible."

"Training my coils more than before." he shrugged. "Rising up fast enough was the hard part, not the actual strike."

He nodded. "I suppose learning how to move faster always will be the most difficult thing to do."

"Not that difficult once you get used to it, though. It's easier for me in the water, though. Then again, it's the usual deal for my kind..."

Neal just noded. "Well, you've already made it very clear that everything is much easier for you in teh water. So that doesn't surprise me."

"Exactly." he smiled. "I go for a dip each and every day. It's just nice for relaxing, too. Reminds me of home."
